Pakistan Muslim League (Q) president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has favoured the Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramdays formula to end the most serious political and judicial crisis in the country. It may be recalled that Justice Ramday in a statement had offered to resign if present government declared the November 3, 2007 actions taken by former president Pervez Musharraf, illegal.
In an interview, Chaudhry Shujaat said that the government should declare the November 3, 2007 actions taken by Musharraf as illegal, reinstate Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry as Chief Justice and Justice Chaudhry should also resign as Pakistan cannot afford current crises. "The countrys ongoing judicial crisis would instantly end if deposed chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry endorsed this formula", the veteran politician said.
Chaudhry Shujaat said his party is against the imposition of governor rule in Punjab but it has not yet decided to side with the PPP or PML (N) to form the next provincial government. "We want to play a positive role and even ready to mediate for PPP and PML (N) reconciliation in the best interest of the country. He said PML (Q) has not yet decided to take part in the lawyers long march for restoration of the pre-2nd November 2007 judiciary.
