Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has reiterated the resolve of the government to share report of the investigation into Mumbai terrorist attacks with Interpol and to ensure transparent, prompt and professional investigation.
"We are committed to investigate the matter in a completely transparent manner and take stern action against terrorists to ensure security and peace in the region", the Prime Minister said while talking to Ronaldo K. Noble, Secretary General of Interpol (International Police), who called on him here on Saturday.
The Secretary General Police arrived in Islamabad to discuss March 3, terrorist attack on Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore and the matters related to investigation into Mumbai terrorist strikes. He had meetings with Rehman Malik, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Interior and heads of different law enforcement agencies, besides the members of investigation team probing into Mumbai terrorist attack of November 26, 2008.
Gilani expressed hope that India would respond positively and provide substantial evidences and material to the FIA to make a strong plea from prosecution of those culprits in Pakistan who were involved in Mumbai terror attacks.
He said that during the course of investigation, Pakistani experts raised questions for making the prosecution a success to give exemplary punishment to people involved in Mumbai attack. "We sent the information to India and still waiting any response from other side", he added.
Interpol chief, Ronaldo Noble discussed the investigation report of Mumbai terrorist attack with Prime Minister Gilani and investigations being carried out by the FIA in latest terror attacks. He thanked the Prime Minister for graciously inviting him during last meeting on sidelines of the Davos meeting in Switzerland, Secretary General Interpol was highly appreciative of the transparency shown by the political leadership of Pakistan in ensuring a prompt and professional probe followed by registration of criminal case against the perpetrators of the Mumbai attacks who had a role in planning or facilitating the culprits.
He thanked the government of Pakistan for sharing information on the case that had been sent to the government of India on February 12 along with a set of pertinent questions that need to be answered soon by the Indian authorities for finalisation of investigation by the FIA and for successful prosecution of the accused in Pakistan.
He also lauded Pakistans utilisation of Interpols global network and databases which demonstrates its commitment to allowing all of the 187 member countries to benefit from and to help with its detailed investigation into the Mumbai terror attacks.
