Indian stocks, currency and bond markets are closed on Wednesday for a second local holiday. Trading resumes on Thursday. On Monday, the 30-share BSE index fell 2 percent to 8,160.40, its lowest close since November 2, 2005, as deepening concern about the health of the world economy weighed down markets across the region.
The partially convertible rupee ended at 51.85/87 per dollar, above an intraday low of 52.01 but 0.4 percent weaker than Fridays close of 51.65/71. It had hit an all-time low of 52.20 last week.
