The government of NWFP on Thursday claimed finding clues to the bomb blast in the killing of Haji Alamzeb Khan MPA and Wednesday life attack on Senior Minister Bashir Ahmad Bilour. However, it remained short of revealing further details regarding the two incidents.
Speaking on the floor of the NWFP assembly, which resumed its proceeding with Khushdil Khan Advocate in the chair, the Provincial Minister for Information, Mian Iftikhar Hussein said that they could not give details due to the ongoing investigation into the matters.
The NWFP Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti, while talking to media alleged the involvement of anti-state elements in both attacks. He did not rule out the involvement of foreign hand and Indian intelligence agency RAW in the ongoing terrorism incidents.
Mian Iftikhar Hussein vowed that they will not be cowed down through such incidents and will continue maintaining close contacts with the electorates. He said that disgusted elements were hatching conspiracy against peace agreement in Swat. "The recent series of the bomb blasts have deep linkages with the conspiracy," added the minister.
The provincial minister who had returned to the provincial metropolis after spending three days in the war-torn valley of Swat, appreciated the role of the TNSM chief Maulana Sufi Muhammad in the efforts of government for restoration of peace in district Swat.
The provincial government, he said had signed agreement with TNSM for the elimination of terrorism and revival of the writ of the government. The enforcement of the Nizam-e-Adl Regulations was a longstanding demand of the 99 percent population of the Malakand division.
The government, he said had posted Qazis, which have started functioning from Thursday. Hopeful of the restoration of peace, he said the people who were really struggling for the enforcement of Islamic judicial system would no more come in the tracks of the militants.
Mian Iftikhar Hussein said that those who had attacked Bashir Ahmad Bilour are challenging the writ of the government and we are ready for the battle. "We as followers of the non-violent philosophy believe in negotiations and could not be frightened through such acts of cruelty and barbarism," added the minister. He said that the provincial government believes in the language of love and brotherhood. "A lot of bloodshed had been made and now enough is enough to quit the path of terrorism. The elements involved in the activity would be brought to justice to award them exemplary punishment," said Mian Iftikhar Hussein.
Nighat Yasmin Orakzai of PML-Q on behalf of her political party announced support for the peace agreement in Swat. She said that are ready to fully support the government in the peace efforts and urged for taking them on board.
The attacks on elected public representatives, she said, is contempt of the people mandate, which will not be tolerated. She said that they could be frightened through barbarism and vowed to continue service of the people. She said that a number of foreign agencies including Indian secret agency RAW were active against the people and governments.
Mufti Kifayatullah of JUI-F said that the peace agreement in Swat had gave a sigh of relief to concerned people of the province. He said no one could oppose peace agreement in Swat and appreciated the endeavour of the components of the coalition government for enforcement of Nizam-e-Adl Regulations in Malakand Division.
Abdul Akbar Khan, parliamentary leader of PPP condemned the incident on behalf of his political party and alleged that such elements are out to sabotage Swat peace agreement. He urged the government for taking notice of the incident.
Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao of PPP-Sherpao, Manawar Khan advocate of PML-N also condemned the incident and expressed sympathies with the bereaved families. They attributed the attack to an attack on the whole assembly and parliament of the country. The House later adopted a unanimous resolution condemning the attack and arrest of the culprits to bring them to justice.
