President PML-Q Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has said that PML-Q had its own entity and it maintains its identification. He turned down all the rumours of an alliance of his party with the PPP for the formation of government in Punjab and said that PML-Q would only attain the chief ministers slot for supporting the PPP.
Talking to a delegation of PML-Q office bearers from Multan, Mehr Sarfraz Ahmed, Rana Muhammad Hafeez and Yasmeen Khan Khakwani, Pervaiz Elahi stressed that the news of alliance was merely a rumour. No deal has been struck between the PPP and the PML-Q and such news was part of disinformation, he asserted. The PML-Q Punjab president called upon the government to show restraint while dealing with the lawyers long march and sit-in.
He warned that the lawyers should be handled wisely otherwise any strict action would produce negative results. Elahi said the country was on crossroads of the history and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani should come forward and play his role in resolving the issue.
"The Prime Minister is the choice of all political parties and enjoys their confidence, therefore, he should come forth to resolve all issues. Since the Prime Minister had termed governor rule in Punjab unconstitutional, he should move now to undo this ultra-constitutional act. We know that power is not forever and the Prime Minister should play his role in stabilising the situation."
