The forward block MPAs of Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) extended again their full support to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) amid rumours that the PPP and PML-Q may make a last attempt to form a coalition government in Punjab ahead.
Mian Ata Manika, led forward block called as unification block emerged on political scene on Thursday, when as many as 26 PML-Qs forward block MPAs met the PML-N President Mian Shahbaz Sharif at Raiwind and vowed to be committed with PML-N. They also extended all out support to the PML-N leadership in its struggle for rule of law in the country. It may be mentioned that as many as 33 MPAs of forward block had met Sharif brothers a few days ago and extended support to them.
However, the unification block was missing some seven members on Thursday because of their stated personal engagements. Though this absence was enough to provide justification of a break in the unification block, which was highlighted by the opposition camps loudly.
On the other hand, the PML-N sources claimed that the unification block of 33 MPAs are determined to extend support to the PML-N in its struggle for the restoration of deposed judges. However, sources close to the PML-Q claimed that seven members who had not attended the meeting at Raiwind had returned to their party. They said the process of returning the PML-Q dissidents in the party-fold has started and the party is all set to show its strength.
Addressing the meeting, Shahbaz Sharif said the country was passing through critical phase and time is very close when their just struggle will achieve success. He lauded the PML-Qs unification block members for extending full support to the PML-N at this stage.
Some of the participants also apprised Shahbaz Sharif about the offers they were receiving for extending political support. After the meeting, Mian Ata Manika told reporters that they are with the PML-N for the restoration of rule of law and independence of judiciary. He said they would fully participate in long march and sit-in.
Manika said that the members of unification block will vote for the election of new leader of the house under Article 63-a of the Constitution, if need arises. He said they are not worried of disqualification because they are supporting the PML-N soon after their election. To a query, he said the PML-Qs unification block is united. However, he said that in todays meeting with Shahbaz Sharif, 26 members participated while seven members could not turn up due to their personal engagements.
