Partly Facetious: Gilani is evolving

"So is PML (N) a one province party or not?"
Published March 17, 2009

"So is PML (N) a one province party or not?"
"Salmaan Taseer says its a GT road party."
"I cant understand Taseer."
"I wasnt aware his statements were particularly erudite to put it mildly."
"No, quite the contrary, but my question to you was if PML (N) is a one province party then why is the government shutting down Sindh? What is the need for Section 144 in Sindh?"
"Overkill, isnt that the hallmark of all our governments."
"True, but did you hear Gilani say he will talk to the President and ask him to end Governors rule, and allow whichever party has the majority to rule Punjab, and that he would also like to talk to the lawyers at some point..."
"That was a good speech. I mean he has informed the country that he will advise the President which according to the Constitution should be binding on the president. So, if nothing changes then Zardari is the only one at fault."
"And you used to call him the vacant eyes parrot."
"Hey thats his look - I never said he is vacant upstairs."
"You are like all the politicians. You cant say sorry, made a mistake..."
"OK, OK so I made a mistake I am sorry."
"So what do you think of Gilani now?"
"Well, that he is not a vacant eyed parrot but a lemur."
"They are cute and they also have those wide set eyes. And you know they are survivors. I read somewhere that the lemur ancestors were displaced in the rest of the world by monkeys, apes, and other primates, but they were safe from competition on Madagascar and then evolved into a number of species. And lets be honest, Gilani is evolving."
"Ah yes, but there is one thing that doesnt hold true for Gilani being a Lemur."
"What is that?"
"Well, the fact that lemur females dominate."
"Ah, but that is great. Gilani owed fealty to Benazir Bhutto for so long..."
"So we are agreed on lemur."
