General, Hameed Gul (Retd) has termed restoration of the deposed judges as a triumph of the lawyers movement and the people. Talking to the journalists here outside the residence of Chief Justice of Supreme Court Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Gul said that the issue was amicably resolved due to the wisdom and prudence of Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani.
Gul said that the PML-N chief has proved that he was committed to the cause of restoration of independent judiciary. Urging the government to shift its focus on the economic development, Gul said better economic conditions would help the government facilitate poor segments of the society. Answering to a question, Hameed Gul said the country could not afford mid-term elections and reconciliation was the only answer to all the questions.
"Rather, the parliament should be strengthened and the focus should be laid on economic development now," he concluded. Credit goes to PPP The central leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Monday said that the credit of restoration of the deposed judges went to his party as the sacrifices rendered by the PPP for the restoration of the deposed judges were unmatched.
"By restoring the deposed judges, the PPP has fulfilled the promises made by Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and President Asif Ali Zardari in this regard," he said while talking to the journalists here outside the residence of Chief Justice Supreme Court Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. Shah said that more PPP leaders would also visit the residence of Justice Iftikhar soon to commemorate the august occasion.
