Qazi courts, established in the district under the peace agreement between NWFP provincial government and Tehrik-e-Nifaz-e-Shariah Muhammadi (TNSM) started functioning formally to provide speedy justice to people. "Qazis will decide cases in the courts, and judges will not be required to come there," TNSM chief Sufi Mohammad had told media.
He said that after enforcement Islamic judicial system, the current judiciary in the district had become dysfunctional in Malakand Division and District Kohistan. He said that decisions of judges would not be acceptable in the area.
On the first day of the new system, 20 cases were brought to the Qazi courts, but due to their minor nature they were sent to police stations concerned for resolution at local level.
Meanwhile, policing was revived in Khwazakhela and Charbagh after a long period of two years. Malakand Division Commissioner Mohammad Javed confirmed the revival of the police system in Khwazakhela and Charbagh.
In another development, Charsadda police arrested an allegedly would be suicide bomber and his two accomplices from Mohalla Qasim Khel, Turangzai, during a raid on a house. The alleged suicide bomber was identified as Qari Shahid 24. Police also recovered a suicide jacket from them. The suspected terrorists were stated to be residents of Mohallah Qasim Khel of Turangzai.
