Ghotki police have emerged to top the list of crime control in the entire Sukkur region. Ghotki Police in 83 different encounters, during the past two months, has apprehended 163 dacoits with millions announced as their head money, 1,472 other criminals and recovered 14 abductees besides demolishing 28 different hideouts of the outlaws.
According to Ghotki police sources, Sindh Inspector General of Police Salahuddin Babar has announced cash reward of Rs 7.8 million for the cops engaged in these achievements. IG Police of Sindh has also appreciated Javaid Jaskani, the District Police Officer of Ghotki who since assuming his present responsibility, some two months ago, has brought about marked improvement in the Ghotki district police performance.
DPO Javed Jaskani, through the support of former DIG Sukkur Bashir Memon, managed to conduct search operations, in the areas considered to be No Go Areas including Gopo, Lalpir, Bairuta and Raunti Bela and arrested culprits involved in severe crimes.
These hardened criminals were said to be not only from Sindh but also from Punjab and Balochistan, who somehow had managed to escape from police custody at one or the other point in time.
Dacoits arrested by Ghotki Police included Habo Korai and Chachar Patafi, each with head money worth Rs two million and Jamo Patafi, Younus Chachar, Munir Tarat, Rango Billo with Rs 1.7 million head money each.
Jamo Patafi police sources said was killed during an encounter with police. The arrest of 163 dacoits and 1,472 other criminals, in two months time, also resulted in retrieval of a rocket launcher, 58 klashinkovs, 259 other categories of arms and ammunition besides 2,800 cartridges. Ghotki police during this period recovered 14 abductees, including some members of Hindu community, without any payment of ransom.
According to Ghotki police sources, they are also in process to get amicably settled a 25-year-old dispute among Shar, Dhondo, Salaro, Gidani, Lakho and Lound tribes of the district. This dispute was claimed to had resulted in massive loss of human lives.
A sizeable amount was said to be already distributed among the cops, while remaining is awaited. Shaikh Junaid, the SP Investigation Ghotki Police, is presently engaged in a search operation against the criminals in Ghotki district.
