The provincial parliamentary party of Pakistan Muslim League-Q, which met here on Friday, urged the party leadership to immediately serve show-cause notices on forward bloc members so that they could be unseated for violating the party discipline.
The meeting, held at Gulberg residence of Chaudhry brothers, was chaired by Punjab PML-Q President Chaudhry Pervaiz Ellahi and was also attended by party chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain. Addressing the meeting, the PML-Q President said the present situation demanded politics of reconciliation, therefore, instead of doing politics of forward bloc, the politics of reconciliation must be promoted.
Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi asked the forward bloc members to return to the party fold, as it would enhance their political stature. The Punjab PML-Q parliamentary party members strongly condemned the activities of the forward bloc members. They said under sub-clause (a) of defection clause 63, the assembly membership of forward bloc could be terminated, as they regularly participated in the Punjab PML-N parliamentary party meeting in violation of party discipline.
They urged the PML-Q leadership to take immediate steps to ensure respect of the party mandate it got in February polls. They said those, who were talking about democracy and respect of public mandate, should also respect the mandate of others and strive for the implementation of Charter of Democracy (CoD).
Sources in the PML-Q told Business Recorder that Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain briefed the members of Punjab parliamentary party about reconciliation efforts being made by him for putting an end to prevailing political turmoil in Punjab. The PML-Q chief also discussed with them the plan of his upcoming meeting with Nawaz Sharif. The Punjab PML-Q parliamentary party also authorised Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhry Pervaiz Ellahi for taking any decision, vis-à-vis formation of Punjab government, the sources claimed.
Addressing the meeting, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhry Pervaiz Ellahi paid tributes to the members of the parliamentary party, who despite worst circumstances, remained loyal with the PML-Q and its leadership. They said it was necessary for strengthening democracy in the country to respect the public mandate given in February 18 polls.
The undemocratic politics of forward bloc needed not to be encouraged, they said. They also exhorted upon political leaders to give preference to national interest and avoid any such action that might weaken the democracy and democratic institutions. Further, a PML-Q MPA from PP-109 Chaudhry Abdullah Yousaf called on Chaudhry Pervaiz Ellahi, and expressed full confidence in the party leadership.
Chaudhry Abdullah Yousaf denied reports of his resignation and joining the PML-N. Moreover, President of Punjab PML-Q Human Rights Wing MPA Ayesha Javed has said the politicians should sincerely adopt the policy of reconciliation for bringing progress and prosperity in the country.
She said confrontation among political forces was harmful for democracy and national economy. She said Chaudhry Shujaat Hussains formula for formation of government in Punjab was practicable and solution of present political mess in Punjab. She said horse-trading in Punjab would weaken the democracy, while the supporters of Charter of Democracy (CoD) should discourage horse-trading. Ayesha said the PML-Q would never compromise on its political identity for the sake of power.
