The Lok Virsa has chalked out comprehensive programmes to mark Pakistan Day here on March 23. The Lok Virsa sources told APP that the day will start with a flag hoisting ceremony at 9.00 am sharp here at Lok Virsa Garden Avenue Shakarparian.
They said that a special exhibition of paintings titled "Colour Waves" by a well-known artist Liaqat Ali Khan is being organised at the Hall of Changing Exhibitions within the Heritage Museum from March 23-29. Colour Waves is an invention of Khan, which is a peculiar kind of abstract art.
His method of painting is very unconventional and requires concentration throughout the process. He has painted a large portrait of Sheikh Zaid Bin Sultan Al Nahian, which is installed in Dubai. He has recently painted the world largest portrait of Quaid-i-Azam to be displayed here in the Federal Capital.
The opening ceremony of the exhibition will take place on March 23, 2009 at 3.00 pm. The sources added that a folk music concert featuring renowned folk artists and performers like Qurban Niazi, Aslam Lohar and party would be held at Lok Virsa open-air theatre in the evening.
In addition to the above festivities, they said that the Heritage Museum will also remain open for public from 10.00 am till 8.00 pm "50 per cent discount on entry ticket for Pakistani adults is also being given for Pakistan Day celebrations", the sources added.
