Jamaat-e-Islami has demanded trial of former President General Pervez Musharraf (Retd) under Article 6 of the Constitution (high treason charges) for subverting the Constitution and other extra-constitutional steps which included packing up of the entire superior judiciary.
JI Naib Ameer Liaquat Baloch has written a letter President Supreme Court Bar Association Ali Ahmad Kurd and office bears of the High Courts and District Courts Bar Associations across the country congratulating them on the success of their historical struggle for the restoration of the deposed judges including Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry.
He further demanded that the 1973 Constitution be restored as it was on 12th October 1999, besides holding of impartial inquiry into the tragic incidents of 12th May 2007 in Karachi massacre of people on 9th April 2008 in Karachi.
Baloch stressed that the judgement of the Supreme Court on 3rd November 2007 declaring Musharrafs 3rd November PCO and Proclamation of Emergency as illegal be implemented and in accordance with the unanimous resolution of the National Assembly, military action in Balochistan and Fata be stopped forthwith.
