Political analysts welcoming the statement of the American President Barack Obama to open a new chapter of relations with Iran, have said better relationship between the two countries will accelerate the regional co-operation and peace in the region.
They are of views that thaw in US-Iran relationship will also benefit Pakistan in many ways. Political and defence affairs expert Dr Hassan Askari told Voice of America (VOA) ,"There is doubt in Iran about Pakistan and United States but now, if dialogue beings between the United States and Iran, tension that emerges off and on between Iran and Pakistan may also vanish."
He said progress on Iran-Pakistan-India gas pipeline project may also get momentum as a result of improvement in the relations between Iran and America. Dr Hassan Askari said if the three countries are agreed on the modalities, the construction of the pipeline will hardly take a few years to complete the project. "It will create economic interdependence among the three countries", he added.
The Pakistan analysts are of the view that contrary to the previous American policy, President Obama wants to establish dialogue and promote co-operation with Iran.
