The first spell of rain accompanied by dust storm was received in lower Sindh, including Umerkot and Tharparkar on Saturday night.According to reports, a big part of Umerkot and Tharparkar experienced light rain in village Kaplore and Amrhar and dusty wind storm in both the districts.
The rain brought a ray of hope and joy to the people of Thar, who were facing hardships due to drought like condition, causing shortage of fodder and drinking water. People of Thar welcomed the spell of rain, while on the other hand people of irrigated areas suffered financial loss, as their standing and harvested crop of wheat was damaged by rain while the wind-storm damaged their mangoes.
