Sociology and psychology are the two most important academic disciplines. Though both these subjects are being taught at masters level in almost all the universities, including University of Peshawar where they have separate departments, yet, ironically, these subjects, despite their great importance, are not in the syllabus at college level in NWFP and throughout the province.
Students are not offered these subjects as almost no college has been authorised teaching of these subjects. This is a great misfortune as this deprives the students of the study of such useful subjects. These subjects (sociology and psychology) needed to be immediately introduced at college level in NWFP so that students may not be deprived of the knowledge of these important subjects.
Its introduction in the colleges would be of great help to those students who intend to study these subjects at masters level as it would provide them the essential academic base.
Besides being highly beneficial to the students it would also help accommodate many of the capable and qualified yet jobless persons having masters degree in these subjects as many vacancies be then available for the teaching of those subjects in colleges. Hopefully the concerned high authorities would take due notice of the above submission and take practical steps for the same on urgent basis.
