Two-day zonal heads conference of the Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation (Passco) concluded here on Wednesday with the pledge to meet the targets of wheat procurement 2009 in a transparent manner. The conference started on Tuesday at the Corporations head office to review the wheat procurement policy 2009.
All the zonal heads were directed by the Passco officials to constitute supervisory committees on all the procurement centers set up by the Corporation so as to ensure procurement farmers friendly and on the spot resolution to any problems faced by the growers. These committees would comprise over Nazim, Lumberdar, big growers and others to ensure that growers should not face any hardship right from receiving gunny bags to having payment of their grains.
It was also decided that the Corporation would even continue buying the wheat beyond its target if needed. It was directed that the procurement would start at 7:00 am and continue till evening.
Sources disclosed Business Recorder that the General Manager (Field) Chaudhry Abdul Majeed urged the Passco zonal heads to display procurement policy in Urdu language at a conspicuous place with the contact numbers of those who could be helpful in resolving any problem. Mobile and office numbers of the General Manager (Field) and Managing Director of the Corporation would also be displayed so the growers could contact them in case of any problem.
