An eighteen member Pakistani delegation of rice exporters led by chairman Rice Exports Association, Abdur Rahim Janoo called on President Makkah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Aadil Kaaki in Makkah Al Mukarrmah. Speaking on the occasion, Aadil Kaaki said that Pakistan excels in rice and said that there was need for taking steps to compete and recapture the Saudi Market by Pakistani exporters.
According to press statement received here Thursday from Consulate General of Pakistan, Jeddah, Kaaki said that Pakistani exporters must maintain quality and standard, as Saudi buyers would not compromise on quality. Responding to invitation, Kaaki said that he would lead a delegation to Pakistan when the elections of the chamber are over.
The head of the delegation in his introductory remarks said that their visit might be instrumental in boosting the trade relations between the two countries. The government has tasked him to lead delegations abroad for the promotion of trade, he said adding that he opted for visiting the Kingdom first.
Janoo said that 22 more modern mills have been established for processing sela rice adding that the delegation members have also brought new samples of the new variety and expect deals. He said that Pakistan has more than four million tons rice available for export and could send in bulk to their Saudi brethren at a competitive rate.
Speaking on the occasion, Sarafraz Ahmed, Consul Commercial said that traditionally Saudi Arabia has been the main market for the best Basmati Rice and Pakistan produces the finest quality of Basmati. The meeting was also attended by the members of the Makkah Chambers and leading businessmen.
