US is planning to extend Drone attacks to Balochistan. Already strong anti-US feelings exist amongst the people for Drone attacks in FATA region and operation in Balochistan will add fuel to the fire. In coming days it is feared that US will continue air strikes in Swat, North Waziristan, Bajaur, Malakand and Quetta.
US believes in carpet and precision bombing where cities are turned into rubble. On the pretext of targeting the safe havens of al Qaeda and Taliban, these air strikes will cause death and destruction as witnessed in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Our government has undertaken to flight US war on terror, which is not our war. We will be bleeding for the sake of US and our stability will be at stake. It is unfortunate that Pakistans destiny is planned and carved out in Washington rather than in Islamabad.
Analysts suggest that we approach UN to pressure US to stop Drone attacks. Generally people feel that a shot be taken at these Drones to bring them down. Conflicting reports have appeared in the press that Drone attacks are carried out from a base near Islamabad while government protests against these attacks.
The truth should be told to the people by the government. It is time that the leadership should spell out role of Pakistan in the war on terror led by US. Let our parliament send a message to US that the people of Pakistan do not approve fighting war on terror on behalf of US within its own territory.
