Managing Director, Wasa, Dr Javed Iqbal has directed FWO, Wasa Engineering Wing and KSB to complete work for installation of 69 tubewell in the city as soon as possible. Presiding a meeting here on Friday, he said installation work of these tubewells be completed without any delay so that people could be provided sufficient water and they do not face any problem during the forthcoming summer season.
He was told that efforts were being made to ensure that 25 tubewells start operation by April 2 while remaining would be operational by May 30. The meeting was told that after starting operation, if these tubewells operated for 12 hours 18.2 million gallon water would be provided to citizens which would help overcome water shortage to a great extent.
The Managing Director said that in addition to 69 tubewells, 11 more tubewells would be installed by June 30 in the areas where there were complaints of water shortage. These areas, she said, have been identified in consultation with peoples representatives and social organisations.
Meanwhile MD Wasa has issued explanation letters to 9 officers of the agency for failing to complete development works in time resulting in delay in provision of facilities to people. The MD directing for completion of all projects within stipulated time as per specifications warned that strict action would be taken against the officials to be found negligent and lethargic in performance of their duties.
