Former Test cricketer and fielding coach of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Ijaz Ahmed, who was arrested by local police on Thursday in bogus cheques case, was shifted to Services Hospital on Friday following asthma attack and high blood pressure in lock-up of police station.
Ijazs family members complained that national hero was facing poor health and despite deterioration of his health condition, no medical facility was extended to him. They urged Governor Punjab and other high-ups to intervene and save Ijaz Ahmed from what they called a bogus case. They demanded a private room for the cricketer in the hospital.
Test cricketers Inzamam ul Haq and Salim Malik visited Services Hospital to enquire about his health. Ijazs lawyer Kashif Javed told reporters that Ijaz Ahmed was not provided any facility of doctor after he suffered asthma attack. Doctors at Services Hospital told Business Recorder that Ijaz has been provided necessary medical treatment, and now his condition is stable.
It may be mentioned that Ijaz Ahmed was arrested by the Liberty police station on charges of fraud and issuing bogus cheques of Rs 10.5million in a conflict between district naib nazim Burewala Usman Warriach and his brother Fayyaz Warriach.
