Lawyers affiliated with PML (N) have demanded of the Governor Punjab to resign for his failure to arrest law and order situation in the province during the last five-weeks of Governor Rule. President PML (N) Lawyers Forum Khawaja Mahmood Ahmad addressing a press conference, with a number of PML (N) affiliated lawyers, here on Tuesday said, Governor Rule was an insult to the mandate of the people of Punjab.
During that period, the province came under a worst kind of law and order situation besides reversal of the progress in all development projects which Shahbaz Sharif government had initiated, he added. He blamed the governor for engaging the police and other administrative officials in political affairs to let the terrorists play their game and events of attack on Sri Lankan cricket team and Manawan appeared.
He said, now the time demanded of the governor to resign the office and if he did not do it within 24 hours, his forum with the support of other lawyers would move to get him removed. Mahmood also formed a committee to prepare list of the alleged illegalities, which he committed during the five-week of Governor Rule in Punjab and the same would be placed before the court of law for adjudication.
He said Governor Punjab permitted celebration of Basant, which claimed lives of five innocent persons and also accused him of taking steps which, he believed, were not only against the Sharifs but also against people of the province. Congratulating the nation on the restoration of Sharif government, he said it was fruit of lawyers struggle that independent judiciary was in place to pass independent decisions and it was a victory of justice, of the truth, and of the people.
With return of Shahbaz to the Punjab government, he said, the people will again be enjoying the facilities of cheap Roti, free of charge medicines in the hospitals and free education. He hoped that end to corruption and taking the corrupt to task would also be on the top priorities of the Shahbaz Sharif government.
Saeed Tahir Sulehri, Wali Muhammad Khan, Sirajul Islam, Waseem Butt, Rana Javed, Azam Bhatti, Saleem Bhatti (Ferozwala) and others extended facilitation on the restoration of Shahbaz Sharif government and hoped that Shahbaz Sharif would come down to field to serve the people with a renewed spirit.
