An extensive drive has been launched across Azad Jammu Kashmir to discourage the trend of power pilferage. Under the plan stringent action would be taken against the officials of the state Electricity Department if found responsible for backing the consumers in such unlawful exercise, official sources said.
The sources told APP here on Thursday the government has decided to initiate strong action against the electricity department employees misusing the officially-determined concessions in usage of electricity for their personal use.
The higher electricity department authorities have been directed not only to immediately book the consumer involved in power pilferage but also to take those officials of the department if they were found responsible for patronising and assisting the consumers in the illegal practice of stealing power. The sources revealed that in order to ensure the uninterrupted supply of electricity to the consumers, new grid stations are proposed to be constructed in various parts of the liberated territory during coming fiscal year.
