Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) is showing reluctance in joining the Federal Cabinet until the abrogation of 17th amendment, said party sources. In a meeting held at the Raiwind residence of Nawaz Sharif, majority of the PML-N top notches was not in favour of any further alliance with the Pakistan Peoples Party until it extended a clear-cut commitment on repealing the 17th amendment.
The meeting was called in the backdrop of recent invitation from Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani to the PML-N to join the Federal Cabinet. Khawja Saad Rafiq, Khawja Mohammad Asif, Ahsan Iqbal, Pervez Rashid and others were present in the meeting.
Sources said the MPs urged the top leadership PML-N to wait until the PPP reacted to its designs on the fate of 17th amendment. They further added that divergent views were expressed by the MPs on the very pertinent question whether the PML-N should join the Federal Cabinet in response to the PPP joining the Punjab cabinet.
