The two roads linking Sohan Islamabad to Islamabad Expressway are in dilapidated condition as the authorities concerned seemed least interested in their maintenance. The miserable condition of the roads forces vehicles to move at a snails pace. Some vehicles even get stuck in potholes and as a result suffer major damage, particularly during rainfall.
Residents claimed that authorities have not taken up repair work for several months. "On several occasions, the attention of the concerned authorities was brought to this burning issue, but they did nothing to mitigate our suffering," said Ejaz Ahmed, a resident of Sohan.
Many residents said that a couple of years back the authorities carpeted the roads but the tar started peeling off after a few months. They said that the condition at some places was so bad that it appeared that no carpeting was ever done.
