Major changes are taking place in the world academics and as global player University of Agriculture Faisalabad can not restrict itself far behind the emerging trends in the science and technology. This was stated by Professor Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan VC UAF while addressing the gathering of university faculty and management here at Iqbal Auditorium Friday morning to pay gratitude to the organisers of the university festival, which ended with fervour and enthusiastic way.
Dr Khan said that nationally we are depressed and at international level Pakistan is being targeted by the enemies so we have to make appropriate and timely decisions in a democratic way after taking all stakeholders on board. Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan maintained that UAF had earned the recognition and excellent repute of the best university of the country as it has mature, functional and forward looking system of effective check and balance at every stage.
He urged the faculty for vigorous professional approach as the future is of hardworking and capable professionals. He underlined the need for integrated and peer pressure environment so as to bring forward a qualitative outcome. He told the gathering that after matriculation, UAF intends to hold some admissions seats for rural male students who really want agriculture as their choice.
He said that university has offered various new major courses and made the students more flexible in selection of their study courses. He said that neither we are managers of the society nor capital we have but we have to thrive and transform our knowledge to benefit the masses particularly deprived and disadvantaged people at rural level.
Dr Khan pointed out that USAID has asked research proposals up to May 25, 2009 so the faculty has to prepare tree projects and concept note comprising "what, why, how and when".
He said that UAF is investing Rs 90,000 per student against an average of Rs 20,000 per student of general universities of the country so it is an obligatory to produce a quality workforce. Dr Khan said that national and international economic players are unanimous on the issue that agriculture and education can lead the country to prosperity and development so we have to get benefits of such take off position as realisations is there at highest level.
Dr Iqrar lauded the efforts of Dean Faculty of Agriculture Professor Dr Iftikhar Ahmad Khan in organising the university festival and alumni meet in a befitting manner and said that thousands of people used to visit the festival, which is great testament of peoples confidence on the university.
