Nawaz Sharif on Friday vowed to accomplish the national agenda with public support so as to ensure a bright future for the country. Addressing a gathering of his party workers at his Raiwind residence, he said that national agenda was aimed at putting an end to poverty, unemployment and lawlessness, besides ensuring peace and just society.
He said that PML-N would work to alleviate poverty and unemployment from the country. "Now people want corruption-free Pakistan; therefore, time has come to take practical steps in this regard," he added.
Referring to restoration of judges, he said that the people of Pakistan had shown unity for the cause of justice and democracy, and proved that they could face any challenge through unity. "There was a revolution on March 15, and the spirit of students, teachers, traders, youth, housewives, lawyers, political activists, civil society was unparalleled," he added.
The PML-N leader asked the countrymen to continue to extend support to him to steer the country out of existing challenges. He said the restoration of deposed judges was the first step towards taking Pakistan to newer heights of socio-economic turnaround.
Nawaz said huge sacrifices were made for re-instatement of judges, and the deposed judges restoration was a revolution. Paying homage to the "48 martyrs of Karachi, who laid down their lives during lawyers movement", he said that vibrant nations "do not ignore the sacrifices" rendered by their martyrs. He said the martyrs of lawyers movement would always be remembered while their families would be looked into. He said the countrymen should feel proud that they played their due role for the country.
He said that he led the long march for ensuring rightful place to the country, for which it was created. He said he always preferred national interests "and now time has come" to put an end to interest-based politics. He said he could call for the long march against Governor Rule in Punjab and SCs decision of disqualification. However, national interest was held supreme, he added.
