Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani frequent meetings with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders have made the leadership of allied parties in the ruling coalition very uneasy on not being taken into confidence on the issue.
"PPP and the PML-N are not taking us into confidence over what they discuss in meetings taking place in Islamabad and Lahore," said Maulana Fazl-ur-Rahman, the chief of Jamiat-ul-Ulema Islam-Fazal (JUI-F)-a PPP coalition partner in the central government. Talking to reporters here on Friday, he said that PPP unilaterally tackling the issue with PML-N. "We are not being consulted on the issues," the JUI chief said.
The JUI-F chief was critical of the President Zardaris stance to sign the Swat peace pact only after witnessing improvement in Swat situation. "Swat Accord could be implemented in letter and spirit only after signing of the Nizam-e-Adl Regulation Act by Asif Ali Zardari, allowing the formal opening up of Qazi courts, he added.
The JUI-F chief conceded that the issues of reinstatement of deposed judges and political crisis in Punjab were resolved after the third party mediation. "It was quite unfortunate. The political parties should have solved this crisis on their own," he said.
Other parties ANP and MQM are closely monitoring the latest situation. A leader in the ANP told Business Recorder that after the PML-N leader Chaudhry Nisars interview with a paper, the situation is more or less clear that the PML-N would continue to be on opposition benches. He said that the ANP would not be disturbed if the PPP and the PML-N came closer together on Charter of Democracy (CoD). However, being an ally, the PPP must take ANP into confidence.
The ANP-led government in the NWFP is facing a lot of troubles in the province. The law and order situation is worsening almost in whole province. The Frontier is facing serious constraints in tackling this issue of militancy individually. The central government will have to play its role, he added. The central government must tackle the issue of governance at central level.
