The Defence lawyers in Benazir assassination case have prayed for adjournment of the hearing till the finalisation of report by the United Nations Committee to this effect. The case may be adjourned till the finalisation of the UN report to meet the requirements of the justice, they stated before the Judge Anti Terrorist Court (ATC) No 1 Chaudhry Habib Ur Rehman here on Saturday.
The Defence had already completed the cross-examination of the Magistrate Chaudhry Taufeeq on previous date of hearing. The Magistrate had recorded the confessional statements of five accused under the law. The accused that are in Adiala Jail are not being produced in the court due to security reasons.
Benazir was martyred during a suicide attack here December 27th, 2007. The suicide attack was allegedly planned by militant Commander Baitullah Masud who has also been declared as Proclaimed Offender in the case.
