Commodore Kamran Khan, Commander of the Mission from Pakistan Navy Ships BADR and NASR hosted a grand reception on Monday night, onboard PN NASR at Port Klang, Malaysia, a press release received Tuesday from the High Commission of Pakistan, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia said.
The reception was attended by more than 200 Malaysian dignitaries from civil and armed forces, business persons, expatriate Pakistanis, diplomatic Corp and Defence attaché of various countries including USA, China, Italy and France. The High Commissioner for Pakistan, Lieutenant General Tahir Mahmud Qazi (Retd) also attended the occasion.
The representative of the commander, in his welcome address thanked the Malaysian Royal Navy for the hospitality and goodwill extended to the ships said that this event is an expression of goodwill and friendship of Pakistan Navy and Pakistan towards Malaysian Navy and Malaysian people.
Later, national anthems of both Malaysia and Pakistan were played. During the reception live traditional Pakistan music was played and the crewmember presented Pakistani folk dance Ludi, which the guests enjoyed. The two Pakistani Navy ships, NASR and BADR, under the command of Commodore Kamran Khan, stayed in Malaysia from April 4-7, 2009 to enhance defence relations and good will between the two countries. Ships will depart Malaysia on April 7 for China and on their way will conduct joint exercises with Malaysian Royal Navy.
During their stay, the ships undertook number of activities with the Royal Malaysian Navy, which included friendly sports fixtures, exchange visits, courtesy calls and reception onboard ships. PN ships also held joint/passage exercises with Royal Malaysian Navy. Crew undertook community welfare work in one of the orphanage. -PR
