The Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) has said that the proposed plan of advancing clocks by one hour from May 1, 2009 will create disturbance in working schedules, rather than bringing discipline in official working.
The President of MCCI, Anis Ahmed, has proposed to the government that keeping in view the present need for more interaction with importers from West, the clocks should not be moved by one hour. He said in a country where literacy rate is very low and whose over 65 percent population still resides in villages, it would create more problems than saving, which are at the least dubious.
