Chief Minister Punjab, Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif should constitute a high-level committee to probe into the misappropriation and embezzlement of funds in the financial affairs of Punjab Public Library by Secretary Higher Education Azhar Hussain Shamim, Chief librarian Punjab Public Library Zaheer Ahmed Mir said on Thursday.
He was addressing a press conference at Punjab Public Library Auditorium, alleging that the secretary wanted to use the library auditorium as his office and he refused to give him the permission, as a result Azhar Hussain started creating hurdles in releasing the funds for the library.
He asked the chief minister for dismissing the secretary higher education, and demanded that the library should be run on the pattern of the Punjab Library Foundation and grant of Rs 100 million must be given on regular basis so that library could meet its requirement, without interception of bureaucracy.
Moreover, he appealed the chief justice, Lahore High Court and chief justice Supreme Court of Pakistan to take suo motu notice of alleged corruption by secretary higher education.
