Sindh Chief Secretary, Fazlur Rehman, in compliance to Chief Ministers directive for "Sasti Roti" project in Sindh, has assigned the DCOs to carry out a survey of inhabitations of most poor people in their respective districts and send their list to Chief Secretarys office by April 16.
Chairing a high level meeting, which was also attended by Advisor to Chief Minister Sharmeela Farooqui on special invitation, the Chief Secretary directed that "tandoors" in these areas should also be identified so that they are being provided subsidised gas and wheat to make the sasti roti provision possible.
The meeting was also attended by Secretary for Implementation, Khalid Mahmood Soomro, Food Secretary, Naveed Kamran Baluch, Health Secretary, Mohammed Hussain Syed and all DCOs. The meeting took stock of the steps taken to check illegal movement of wheat and PPO Sindh and RPOs Sukkur, Hyderabad were directed to ensure check on illegal movement of wheat.
They were asked to keep law enforcing officials and personnel particularly alert at inter-provincial boundaries so that wheat flour is made available to people at fixed rate. The Chief Secretary, on his personal observation, took notice of the movement of wheat laden trucks in Gadani area and called for a report from Food Secretary in this regard. He directed that farmers grievances must be redressed and middlemen be discouraged.
