A policy seminar on Sindh Annual Development Plan (ADP) and budget 2009-10 will be held at the Institute of Business Administration (IoBM), Korangi Creek here on April 11. The Centre for Research in Sindh (CRIS), recently established under the patronage of Government of Sindh, is organising this seminar to provide a forum for pre-budget exchange of views on Sindhs fiscal and development strategy between policy makers, business people, corporate sector, academia and media.
According to IoBM, highlights of the seminar would be presentations on expectations from Sindh budget 2009-10 by leading industrialists, businessmen and bankers, ADP of Sindh 2009-10 by Planning and Development Department, Government of Sindh and budget 2009-10 by Finance Department, Government of Sindh.
Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) President Syed Asad Ali Shah will be the chief guest. IoBm had earlier organised a Higher Education Commission-supported conference on "Sindh Progress and Prospects" in collaboration with University of Sindh, Jamshoro, which was attended by Sindh Assembly Speaker Nisar Khuhro and Sindh Education Minister Pir Mazahr-ul-Haq.
The conference assessed the progress made during the past decade in socio-economic sectors, investment, HRD, IT strategies, health, media and development of Sindh language. A development strategy was articulated for realising Sindhs inherent potential. It provided a sound research and reference base for CRIS to contribute to enhancing competitiveness and productivity in Sindh.
