A Chinese delegation headed by Vice President of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC) Ke Ying and Chinese Ambassador H E Luo Zhaohui called on President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Friday. Shao Kiawen, Vice General Manager CSIC, briefed the President in detail about the role of the company and the existing level of co-operation between Pakistan Navy and China Shipbuilding Corporation.
He said that CSIC has attained the capability to compete with any of its European competitor company in this field. The President appreciated the achievements of the company and the existing level of co-operation between Pakistan Navy and the China Shipbuilding Corporation.
The President welcomed the suggestion of extending further the co-operation between China and Pakistan in this field and observed that Pakistan and China relations extend back to three generations. The foundation of this all-weather friendship enjoyed by the two countries was laid down by Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and was carried further by Shaheed Benazir Bhutto.
Pakistan views China as a great help and a friend watching our flank. He observed that extending mutual co-operation further would be beneficial for both the sides in not only providing business for the company but also through useful exchange of information in this field by both the sides.
The Chinese delegation also included Zhang Yi, Du Gang, Zhu Yong Hua, M. Unira and Xu Zi Qiu. Chaudhary Ahmed Mukhtar, Minister for Defence, Abdul Qayyum Khan Jatoi, Minister for Defence Production, M. Salman Faruqui, Secretary General to the President, Farahnaz Ispahani, MNA, Lieutenant General (Retd) Syed Athar Ali, Secretary Defence and Lieutenant General (Retd) Shahid Siddique Trimizi, Secretary Defence Production also attended the meeting.-PR
