The federal government is taking concrete steps to accelerate pace of development activities in Northern Areas (NAs) including Gilgit and Baltistan under public sector development programme. Official sources told newsmen here on Saturday while briefing about the PSDP schemes in NAs, which were ranging from projects relating to energy, health and water.
The sources said that a power Hydel station was being constructed at Basho in Skardu district and Rs 40 million had been allocated in current financial year for the project. Similarly, an amount of Rs 10 million had bee allocated for multipurpose Sadpara dam project, he added. Micro seismic system would be established in NAs at a cost of Rs 89.4 million, he said adding that a nuclear medicine centre would be established in Gilgit to facilitate the people of those areas.
