If the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) is revoked then the persons, who availed of its benefit would have to face difficulties. The General Secretary, Jamiat Ulmae-e-Islam (JUI -F), Senator Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri said. He was addressing a press conference in Lahore along with the Central Information Secretary, JUI-F, Maulana Amjad Khan on Saturday.
Ghafoor demanded that the former President, General Pervez Musharraf should be tried on the charges of his involvement in Lal Masjid operation. He said that they would announce their future strategy after their general council meeting in Lahore on April 18 and 19.
We would not allow any body to abolish Islamic teachings from the curriculum, he said and warned Punjab government not to interfere in the matters of the madrassas and mosques, otherwise the government would have to face strong resistance. Maulana Ghafoor demanded that the President, Asif Ali Zardari should sign the peace agreement of Swat otherwise, both provincial and federal governments will be responsible for any unpleasant incident happening in the country.
Right now we are not separating from the government, he said adding that drone attacks could stop only when the government will stop giving logistic support and air bases to America. The JUI-F GS also condemned the incident of killing of Baloch leaders and demanded that persons involved in the incident should be unveiled as early as possible.
Referring to the demand from many political sections for complete restoration of the constitution to its 1973 position, he said if it is done then the amendments, which were made in the constitution in 1974 to declare the Qadianis non Muslims, will be automatically abolished.
