Director General Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) Murtaza Solangi said on Saturday that first public-sector 2.5 Kilowatts FM radio would be launched in Mirpur, airing different programmes of public interests.
"To be located in the premises of the broadcasting house of Azad Kashmir Radio, Mirpur, this project may take a couple of days more to set off its transmission," the PBC chief announced while talking to a delegation of AJK Radio Mirpur Artists Acquity which called on him on Saturday.
He said the transmitter of the proposed FM radio was being installed in the premises of the broadcasting house of AJK radio Mirpur soon to bring on air the attractive programmes of entertainment. Station Director Muhammad Shakeel apprised the DG PBC for his efforts in enabling PBC to air more quality programmes for listeners.
The DG PBC held separate meetings with the regular staff members of AJK Radio Mirpur including the Station Director Muhammad Shakeel, head of news section Saeed Qureshi, Broadcasting Engineer, Accounts Officer Nisaar Ahmed and others and discussed various matters to improve the programs being aired by the radio.
FM radio equipment is reaching its site in the near future - for which he (DG) accorded formal approval during his visit Saturday, Solangi said. The 192-feet high FM radio mast, it may be added, has already been installed as a preamble to this project. The programmes cue-sheet shall be indexed with a variety of entertainment as well as info programmes.
