Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamer Zaman Kaira on Sunday said that government was committed to restore 1973 Constitutional in its original shape. Talking to media the Federal Minister said that PPP government had fulfilled the basic demand of the PML-N by reinstating the judges, whereas Constitution amendments would soon be made to restore the 1973 Constitution.
He assured the nation on behalf of his party and PML-N to remove the Constitutional flaws. Kaira said that the Prime Minister had formally invited the PML-N to rejoin the federal cabinet during the meeting with the Chief Minister Punjab and PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif.
The two leaders, he said, formally agreed to take all the political forces on board while taking major decisions regarding national issues.
However, he clarified that the amendments would make in a democratic way for promoting democratic values in the country. "Now we are talking about those amendments which were made in the past for some or other reasons and proved counter-productive," he said and added Speaker National Assembly has been authorised to form a committee comprising members from PML-N, PPP and other political groups to introduce amendments in the constitution.
He said that a committee which is expected to meet within next two days would expedite its working and complete the work and correct the things. "It is our commitment that unless and until this process is not completed we cannot move ahead," he said and asked all political forces to come forward and supplement the government efforts in this regard.
The Minister said both parties are united for the empowering of judiciary. There is a great need of unity among all the political forces in order to meet the challenges being faced by the country, he remarked. He urged the political forces to come forward and play their vital role in meeting the challenges being faced by the country by keeping the national interest supreme over the personal interests.
