US Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Senator John Kerry would arrive in Islamabad on Monday (today) to discuss Pakistans relations with United States with particularly reference to the US aid for Pakistan to defeat the ongoing war on terror.
According to diplomatic sources, the US Senator, who is also an author of the Kerry-Loger Bill would take the issue and would assure Pakistan of US financial assistance for handling the terrorism and extremism, a major challenge for both the countries. During his visit, the US Senator would hold series of meetings with President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and other concerned officials. During the meetings, Pakistani authorities would take up the issue of Kerry-Loger Bill and urged US to expedite working on the Bill for helping Pakistan to defeat the menace of terrorism and extremism.
The Pakistani leaders would also urged the US Senator to stop drone attacks within the Pakistani territory on the ground that such direct attacks of the coalition forces could not yield required objectives of the much costly war. Besides, the sources added, the two sides also bring all the options under discussion as how to defeat the terrorism and extremism in a successful manner.
