Parliament security plan: speaker asks parties to name MPs for house committee

National Assembly Speaker Dr Fehmida Mirza on Wednesday asked all the political parties in the Parliament to nominate two of their parliamentarians for the House Advisory Committee to chalk out in and around Parliament security plan.
She was clarifying the comments of the opposition leader in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, who expressed his reservation over the tightened security in the Parliament causing grave inconvenience to the parliamentarians and masses. She said that the members would get briefing from the senior security officials and chalk out a new security plan for the Parliament to minimise the inconvenience.
About the parliamentarians guests, the Speaker said that members should apply for getting cards for their guests two days earlier and should avoid brining more than two guests with them. Clarifying firing of some of the National Assembly employees, the Speaker said that no employee from the secretariat has been dismissed from the job. At the same time, she said it was decided at the finance committee meeting that some contract employees be given notice to improve their performance keeping in view complaints about their poor performance.
