Pakistan is inching towards worst economic crisis and it is responsibility of the government and opposition to form a comprehensive policy to tackle the situation, said Chairman of Senate Standing Committee on Interior Senator Talha Mehmood here on Wednesday.
"We have to realise the gravity of the situation and make all out efforts, use all resources and energies for saving the country from further economic disorder," Talha Mehmood said while talking to reporters. He stressed the need for resolving the issues impending in different parts of the country so that complete unity and solidarity emerge.
Talha termed the release of former chief cleric of Lal Masjid Maulana Abdul Aziz a victory of truth, saying that this verdict of Supreme Court had enhanced the respect and prestige of the judiciary and the government. "The easy and quick dispensation of justice and decisions, based on justice and merit, will bail out the country from this political and economic crisis," he said.
He said that country was passing through a crucial era, where complete unity and solidarity was imperative to end economic crisis, unemployment, poverty and price hike. "The government should take along the Ulema from every school of thought, politicians, civil society and people from other walks of life and form a collective strategy for the betterment of Pakistan," Talha Mehmood said.
He lauded the measures, taken by the present government for supremacy of Constitution and parliament, saying that these measures would help attain the lost glory of Pakistan in every field of life.
It is pertinent to note that Supreme Court of Pakistan had granted bail to Maulana Abdul Aziz, in children library occupation case. A Supreme Court bench, comprising Justice Javed Iqbal, Justice Sarmad Jalal Usmani and Justice Syed Zahid Hussain, heard the case on Wednesday. Maulana Abdul Aziz was already granted bail in 25 cases and the court had acquitted him in another case.
