Dr Fehmida Mirza, Speaker National Assembly has said that rehabilitation of the displaced persons of Bajaur and FATA was the priority of the democratic government and the elected members of the Parliament and all concerned agencies have been asked to expedite the activities in their respective spheres for the speedy rehabilitation of the displaced persons of the effected areas.
The Speaker said this while presiding over the meeting of the "Special Oversight Committee for the Displaced Persons of the Tribal Areas" in the Parliament House, on Wednesday, says a press release. The Committee discussed and reviewed the problems confronting the displaced people in the Camps and progress for resolving them.
The Committee was informed that despite efforts, the people in the Camps were confronting problems like shortage of tents, clean drinking water, medicine and facilities for childrens education.
The Committee decided to provide instant relief of Rs 10, 000 in the form of cheques from the Speakers Relief Fund to each of the most effected and vulnerable families. The Speaker while expressing concern over the problems confronting widows, orphans and disabled persons asked the Committee to finalise a list of such persons for their instant relief from Speakers Relief Fund for the most vulnerable.-PR
