Permanent Representative of Pakistan at United Nations Organisation (UNO) Hussain Haroon here on Friday said India used to claim Sir Creek strip in Arabian Sea as her territory because of chances of huge oil deposits there. Addressing a press conference at his residence, Haroon said, however Pakistan should react very responsibly and in a dignified way with no compromise on her sovereignty.
He said UN Investigation Committee on Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto''s murder case did its job and all possible support and facilitation was provided to it by the Government along with foolproof security. Now, UN Investigation Commission to probe BB''s murder is scheduled to come in Pakistan in May 2009, he added.
He said it is time to bring visible changes in Pakistan as 60-year system in the country cannot be preferred. The world community raises queries on the future of Pakistan. But our message for them is very clear that Pakistan''s future is very safe rather very bright and we only need financial support to exploit our resources. Pakistan''s Representative at United Nations said " The Friends of Pakistan " countries wanted to help us through one-window operation.
The UN has also given such a proposal. He said outside financial aid would be received in the line of Pakistan''s present and future financial needs. He said certain countries have shown their reservations on the role of the majority Pakistani politicians against suicide attacks in the country, who allegedly issued only statements to condemn these attacks.
Earlier, the Western countries used the word " Pak-Hind" while talking about this sub-continent. Now, he continued, they use the word Af-Pak " Afghanistan and Pakistan." The Western countries have also shown their concern on Sawat agreement maintaining that it is out of Pakistan''s legal framework and that the right of Appellate Court should be with Shariah Bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. Hussain Haroon said 80 per cent of this new judicial system is based on the existing judicial laws of Pakistan.
