NWFP Minister for Finance Engineer Muhammad Humayun Khan and the Provincial Minister for Population Welfare Saleem Khan held a joint open kutchery at the People's Secretariat, Hayatabad, Peshawar on Thursday and listened to the problems of the people who had come to the secretariat from different parts of the province.
Majority of the people was poor and needy who had come to seek help from the ministers in connection with their matters pending in the government departments. Both ministers spent many hours in the People's Secretariat and issued directives to the concerned quarters on a large number of applications presented to them by the people.
They go through the written pleas and referred the applications to the concerned quarters with their remarks. Both the ministers also debated certain grievances of the people regarding developmental schemes and prepared a strategy to bring the same into the notice of the high officers of the provincial as well as federal government.
Addressing the people on the occasion, the provincial finance minister said that Pakistan People's Party is party of the poor and every policy was being planned in such a way that the poor could get relief. He said the purpose of holding open kutcheries was that the people could be listened closely and solid measures could be taken for the removal of their grievances.
He said holding of open kutcheries would continue for an indefinite period in which all the federal as well as provincial ministers would sit in the People's Secretariat and would listen to the problems of the general masses without having any political affiliation.
He declared that in the open kutcheries everyone would be allowed to explain their grievances before the ministers openly. He said efforts would be made to solve the problems of the people on the spot and wherever consultation with the provincial high ups was necessary, those officers would be called to the open kutcheries so that the people could get timely relief.
Meanwhile, the divisional president of PPP Malakand Division Dr Afsarul Mulk called on the Minister for Finance Engineer Muhammad Humayun Khan at the People's Secretariat, Peshawar and discussed with him matters relating to the party workers of Malakand.
The minister assured the PPP leader that he would do his level best for the provision of basic facilities to the people of Malakand division. He said the peace was coming to the region and Insha Allah the PPP government would do a lot for the affected Malakand.
