Leader of the House in Senate Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari said the murder of Syed Asad Ali Zaidi is a conspiracy of those elements who wanted to destabilise the country.
He was addressing a condolence reference, "Syed Asad Zaidi National Literary Reference", arranged by Syed Asad Zaidi Memorial Committee, Markazi Imam Hussain Council, Baltistan Students Federation in collaboration with Hum Log civil society organisation here Sunday. He said Northern Areas is a peaceful region and this heinous crime has destroyed peace in the valley affecting economic and tourism sectors badly.
He condemned the murder of Asad Zaidi saying that the government will take strict action against the culprits. Nayyar Bukhari said the masses of the country are united under the leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani to eliminate extremism from the society.
Senate, National Assembly and all the provincial assemblies will not allow anyone to go against the constitution of the country. Ehtisham-ud-Din, Secretary Ministry of Kashmir Affairs and Northern Areas (KANA) read the message of Qamar-uz-Zaman Kaira, Incharge Minister KANA on the occasion.
The Minister said, "We condemned the killing of Deputy Speaker of Northern Areas Assembly and termed it an unfortunate incident." It showed that the culprits are against religious tolerance and brotherhood. A judicial committee will be constituted to trace the elements who are involved in this heinous crime. People must joined hands with the government to eliminate extremism from the society," he said. President Baltistan Student Federation Zulfiqar Shakri said Syed Asad Zaidi promoted equality, justice and
brotherhood throughout his life and people of Gilgit and Baltistan belonging to all sects should work collectively to promote the cause. He said a peace squad should be constituted in Baltistan and a university should be established in the area in his name. Renowned religious scholar Agha Murtaza said that the death of Asad Zaidi was not only a loss for an individual but it is a loss for the whole society.
Ehtisham-ud-Din, Secretary Ministry of Kashmir Affairs and Northern Areas (KANA) said Asad Zaidi was one of the active leeaders of the Northern Areas. He said late Asad Zaidi has a multi-faceted personality. The Secretary NAs while speaking on the behalf of Qamar-uz-Zaman Kaira, Incharge Minister KANA said that the government is working for the welfare of Northern Areas on priority basis.
The Minister will visit the people of Northern Areas soon and will hold a detailed meeting to redress the grievances of people. Member district council Skardu Akbar Ali and nephew of Asad Zaidi Syed Shumail, Fouzia Saleem Abbas, member Northern Areas Assembly and Ghazanfar Mehdi addressed the gathering.
