He was addressing the International Conference and Expo of Energy Technologies "Energy Asia 2009" on Tuesday. Aulakh said that the private sector should play its role to overcome present energy crisis faced by the country. He stressed the need of using alternative and renewable energy sources, which include power generation through wind and solar power.
Aulakh said that solar and wind energy can be used for running tube wells, which will save lot of energy. He said that Punjab has produced 10.8 million metric tons of wheat despite the shortage of water. He said that we should adopt a comprehensive strategy as a nation to solve our energy crisis.

He said that Pakistan has the potential of producing 15000MW through hydropower and we have not utilised less than 50 percent potential of our hydropower.
He also said that Pakistan has the potential of producing 35000MW from wind energy and we would only be able to utilise around 300 MW of wind power by 2010.
