Rice Dealers and Commission Agents Association of the Sheikhupura grain market have urged the federal and provincial government to help the rice dealers of their area who have been deprived of million of rupees by a group of people.
Addressing a press conference at the Lahore Press Club (LPC) here on Thursday, President Chaudhry Zafar Mahmood Khan and General Secretary Imtiaz Ashraf Aulakh alleged that owners of Usman and Company and Muhammad Aslam and company bought rice from different dealers worth millions of rupees.
They made some payments but one year back, when they still had to pay Rs 400 million to different dealers, they issued cheques which banks denied to encash. They claimed that the owners of these companies had fled abroad and they should be brought back to give relief to the 30 victims who were facing lot of financial hardships. They said that they would adopt all measures including strike and protest rallies to press for their demands.
