Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani is likely to hold formal talks with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on continuity of coalition government in Punjab on Sunday. Sources in the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) told Business Recorder that the Prime Minister would hold formal talks with the PML-N leadership, most likely with Shahbaz Sharif during his stay in the city.
According to the sources, the talks will focus on continuity of coalition set up in Punjab ahead. When asked as when the PPP is going to formally announce to continue or quit the coalition government in Punjab, the sources said it is likely to be decided next week. Further, the sources said the Prime Minister would try to convince PML-N leadership to join coalition government in centre.
They added that the leadership of both the PMLN and the PPP was under strong international pressure to jointly tackle the challenges being confronted by the country. It may be noted that the PPP workers and provincial leadership has been opposing the idea of continuity of coalition in Punjab.
They were of the view that the PPP can only survive as a party in Punjab in case it decides to stay away from the PMLN-led government in Punjab. However, the party leadership has insisted the party workers and provincial parliamentarians to show patience and be part of coalition government in Punjab.
