Security forces on Saturday took control of the road between Ambella and Daggar, the main road linking Daggar with the rest of the country. Five militants, including three Afghans, were arrested from Kanju while 12 army uniforms were recovered from a jeep during search operation, said Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) release here.
The security forces launched a successful operation to secure the communication link between Daggar, district headquarters of Buner, and other parts, and forces were busy clearing the landmines planted by militants, the spokesman of ISPR said.
"The Daggar-Mardan road was also cleared of militants", the spokesman said, adding that during search operation, launched in Kanju, security forces arrested five militants, including three Afghan nationals. "The detained five militants were planting landmines on the road", he added. He said that security forces in Khuwaza Khela have recovered 12 army uniforms in a jeep.
The spokesman said that two security forces officials were killed and three others wounded, when militants attacked a check post in Spanki Tani area of Mohmand Agency tribal region. In a retaliatory assault by security forces, 16 militants were killed and several others were wounded. Meanwhile, it is learnt that curfew has been imposed in Alpuri, district headquarters of Shangla, and other key roads as heavy contingents of security forces reached at Shangla top.
Sources in ISPR said that unannounced curfew has been imposed in Alpuri, Ranyal, Karora, Bisham-Alpuri road and Karora-Jak road after deployment of security forces. Other roads have also been closed for traffic. The purpose of curfew is to prevent militants' entry in Shangla from Buner. Security forces started marching towards Swari area, they said.
